Tuned reactive power dispatch through modified differential evolution technique

摘要: This paper explores the capability of modified differential evolution (MDE) technique for solving the reactive power dispatch (RPD) problem. The proposed method is based on the basic differential evolution (DE) technique with a few modifications made into it. DE is one of the strongest optimization techniques though it suffers from the problem of slow convergence while global minima appear. The proposed modifications are tried to resolve the problem. The RPD problem mainly defines loss minimization with stable voltage profile. To solve the RPD problem, the generator bus voltage, transformer tap setting and shunt capacitor placements are controlled by the MDE approach. In this paper, IEEE 14-bus and IEEE 30-bus systems are chosen for MDE implementation. The applied modification show much improved result in comparison to normal DE technique. Comparative study with other soft-computing technique including DE validates the effectiveness of the proposed method.

摘要: In this study, a two-stage method is presented for identifying multiple damage scenarios. In the first stage, the damage locating vector (DLV) method using normalized cumulative energy ( ) is employed for damage localization in structures. In the second stage, the differential evolution algorithm (DE) is used for damage severity of the structures. In addition, in the second stage, a modification of an available objective function is made for handing the issue of symmetric structures. To verify the effectiveness of the present technique, numerical examples of a 72-bar space truss and a one-span steel portal frame are considered. In addition, the effect of noise on the performance of the identification results is also investigated. The numerical results show that the proposed combination gives good assessment of damage location and extent for multiple structural damage cases.

Cluster voltage control method for “Whole County” distributed photovoltaics based on improved differentialevolution algorithm

摘要: China is vigorously promoting the “whole county promotion” of distributed photovoltaics (DPVs). However, the high penetration rate of DPVs has brought problems such as voltage violation and power quality degradation to the distribution network, seriously affecting the safety and reliability of the power system. The traditional centralized control method of the distribution network has the problem of low efficiency, which is not practical enough in engineering practice. To address the problems, this paper proposes a cluster voltage control method for distributed photovoltaic grid-connected distribution network. First, it partitions the distribution network into clusters, and different clusters exchange terminal voltage information through a “virtual slack bus.” Then, in each cluster, based on the control strategy of “reactive power compensation first, active power curtailment later,” it employs an improved differential evolution (IDE) algorithm based on Cauchy disturbance to control the voltage. Simulation results in two different distribution systems show that the proposed method not only greatly improves the operational efficiency of the algorithm but also effectively controls the voltage of the distribution network, and maximizes the consumption capacity of DPVs based on qualified voltage.

simultaneous heat integration design of a coal-based ethylene glycol refining process by a parallel differentialevolution algorithm

摘要: Coal to ethylene glycol still lacks algorithm optimization achievements for distillation sequencing due to high-dimension and strong nonconvexity characteristics, although there are numerous reports on horizontal comparisons and process revamping. This scenario triggers the navigation in this paper into the simultaneous optimization of parameters and heat integration of the coal to ethylene glycol distillation scheme and double-effect superstructure by the self-adapting dynamic differential evolution algorithm. To mitigate the influence of the strong nonconvexity, a redistribution strategy is adopted that forcibly expands the population search domain by exerting external influence and then shrinks it again to judge the global optimal solution. After two redistributive operations under the parallel framework, the total annual cost and CO2 emissions are 0.61%/1.85% better for the optimized process and 3.74%/14.84% better for the superstructure than the sequential optimization. However, the thermodynamic efficiency of sequential optimization is 11.63% and 10.34% higher than that of simultaneous optimization. This study discloses the unexpected great energy-saving potential for the coal to ethylene glycol process that has long been unknown, as well as the strong ability of the self-adapting dynamic differential evolution algorithm to optimize processes described by the high-dimensional mathematical model.

An improved chaotic hybrid differential evolution for the short-term hydrothermal scheduling problem

摘要: Short-term hydrothermal scheduling (STHTS) is a non-linear and complex optimization problem with a set of operational hydraulic and thermal constraints. Earlier, this problem has been addressed by several classical techniques; however, due to limitations such as non-linearity and non-convexity in cost curves, artificial intelligence tools based techniques are being used to solve the STHTS problem. In this paper an improved chaotic hybrid differential evolution (ICHDE) algorithm is proposed to find an optimal solution to this problem taking into account practical constraints. A self-adjusted parameter setting is obtained in differential evolution (DE) with the application of chaos theory, and a chaotic hybridized local search mechanism is embedded in DE to effectively prevent it from premature convergence. Furthermore, heuristic constraint handling techniques without any penalty factor setting are adopted to handle the complex hydraulic and thermal constraints. The superiority and effectiveness of the developed methodology are evaluated by its application in two illustrated hydrothermal test systems taken from the literature. The transmission line losses, prohibited discharge zones of hydel plants, and ramp rate limits of thermal plants are also taken into account. The simulation results reveal that the proposed technique is competent to produce an encouraging solution as compared with other recently established evolutionary approaches.

A modified neural learning algorithm for online rotor resistance estimation in vector controlled induction

摘要: Online estimation of rotor resistance is essential for high performance vector controlled drives. In this paper, a novel modified neural algorithm has been identified for the online estimation of rotor resistance. Neural based estimators are now receiving active consideration as they have a number of advantages over conventional techniques. The training algorithm of the neural network determines its learning speed, stability, weight convergence, accuracy of estimation, speed of tracking and ease of implementation. In this paper, the neural estimator has been studied with conventional and proposed learning algorithms. The sensitivity of the rotor resistance change has been tested for a wide range of variation from -50% to+50% on the stability of the drive system with and without estimator. It is quiet appealing to settle with optimal estimation time and error for the viable realization. The study is conducted extensively for estimation and tracking. The proposed learning algorithm is found to exhibit good estimation and tracking capabilities. Besides, it reduces computational complexity and, hence, more feasible for practical digital implementation.

A new and best approach for early detection of rotor and stator faults in induction motors coupled to

摘要: Today, induction machines are playing, thanks to their robustness, an important role in world industries. Although they are quite reliable, they have become the target of various types of defects. Thus, for a long time, many research laboratories have been focusing their works on the theme of diagnosis in order to find the most efficient technique to predict a fault in an early stage and to avoid an unplanned stopping in the chain of production and costs ensuing. In this paper, an approach called Park’s vector product approach (PVPA) was proposed which was endowed with a dominant sensitivity in the case in which there would be rotor or stator faults. To show its high sensitivity, it was compared with the classical methods such as motor current signature analysis (MCSA) and techniques studied in recent publications such as motor square current signature analysis (MSCSA), Park’s vector square modulus (PVSM) and Park-Hilbert (P-H) (PVSM ). The proposed technique was based on three main steps. First, the three-phase currents of the induction motor led to a Park’s vector. Secondly, the proposed PVPA was calculated to show the distinguishing spectral signatures of each default and specific frequencies. Finally, simulation and experimental results were presented to confirm the theoretical assumptions.

Optimal operation of microgrid using hybrid differential evolution and harmony search algorithm

摘要: This paper proposes the generation scheduling approach for a microgrid comprised of conventional generators, wind energy generators, solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, battery storage, and electric vehicles. The electrical vehicles (EVs) play two different roles: as load demands during charging, and as storage units to supply energy to remaining load demands in the MG when they are plugged into the microgrid (MG). Wind and solar PV powers are intermittent in nature; hence by including the battery storage and EVs, the MG becomes more stable. Here, the total cost objective is minimized considering the cost of conventional generators, wind generators, solar PV systems and EVs. The proposed optimal scheduling problem is solved using the hybrid differential evolution and harmony search (hybrid DE-HS) algorithm including the wind energy generators and solar PV system along with the battery storage and EVs. Moreover, it requires the least investment.

Solving multi-objective optimal power flow problem considering wind-STATCOM using differential evolution

摘要: In this paper, a simple strategy based differential evolution was proposed for solving the problem of multi-objective environmental optimal power flow considering a hybrid model (Wind-Shunt-FACTS). The DE algorithm optimized simultaneously a combined vector control based active power of wind sources and reactive power of multi STATCOM exchanged with the electrical power system to minimize fuel cost and emissions. The proposed strategy was examined and applied to the standard IEEE 30-bus with smooth cost function to solve the problem of security environmental economic dispatch considering multi distributed hybrid model based wind and STATCOM controllers. In addition, the proposed approach was validated on a large practical electrical power system 40 generating units considering valve point effect. Simulation results demonstrate that choosing the installation of multi type of FACTS devices in coordination with many distributed wind sources is a vital research area.

摘要: Personalized microblog recommendations face challenges of user cold-start problems and the interest evolution of topics. In this paper, we propose a collaborative filtering recommendation algorithm based on a temporal interest evolution model and social tag prediction. Three matrices are first prepared to model the relationship between users, tags, and microblogs. Then the scores of the tags for each microblog are optimized according to the interest evolution model of tags. In addition, to address the user cold-start problem, a social tag prediction algorithm based on community discovery and maximum tag voting is designed to extract candidate tags for users. Finally, the joint probability of a tag for each user is calculated by integrating the Bayes probability on the set of candidate tags, and the top microblogs with the highest joint probabilities are recommended to the user. Experiments using datasets from the microblog of Sina Weibo showed that our algorithm achieved good recall and precision in terms of both overall and temporal performances. A questionnaire survey proved user satisfaction with recommendation results when the cold-start problem occurred.

摘要: In this paper, we report the turbulent flow structures and the scour geometry around two piers with different diameters. An experiment was conducted on a non-uniform sand bed with two types of tandem arrangements, namely, pier (T1) with a 75 mm front and 90 mm rear, and pier (T2) with a 90 mm front and 75 mm rear, with and without-seepage flows, respectively. A strong wake region was observed behind the piers, but the vortex strength diminished with downward seepage. Streamwise velocity was found to be maximum near the bed downstream of the piers and at the edge of the scour hole upstream of the piers. Quadrant analysis was used to recognize the susceptible region for sediment entrainment and deposition. Upstream of the piers near the bed, the moments, turbulent kinetic energy (TKE), and TKE fluxes were found to decrease with downward seepage, in contrast to those in a plane mobile bed without piers. The reduction percentages of scour depth at the rear pier compared with the front one were approximately 40% for T1 and 60% for T2. Downward seepage also resulted in restrained growth of scouring with time.
